Meeting Recap
Greetings Rotarians! Today’s speaker was Amy Schram from the district office of the Better Business Bureau located in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a non-profit organization that has been in existence for 102 years. One of the common misconceptions with the BBB is that it does nothing more than serve as a conduit for complaints from angry consumers. Not unlike Rotary, BBB strives to encourage the practice of high ethical standards in the business community. Membership and good-standing in the BBB also lends a degree of credibility and prestige to its member businesses. In addition, BBB works closely with state and federal law enforcement agencies and local chambers of commerce to monitor businesses and the manners in which they conduct their affairs. 2014 Essex Rotary Golf Tournament
Spring is finally starting to nudge old man winter out of the picture which means it is time to start gearing up for the 2014 Essex Rotary Golf Tournament! This year’s event will be held at the Links at Lang Farm on Wednesday, June 11th. This is our Club’s biggest fundraiser, so it is important that all Rotarians participate and help out with this event. A volunteer sheet is being passed around. We ask that each Rotarian who is not playing in the tournament please volunteer for a slot at the event. It is also important that members solicit sponsors for the tournament. Each Rotarian is responsible for bringing in at least one sponsor. The Golf Committee will be distributing sponsorship brochures in another week or so for you all to use when soliciting sponsors.
District 7850 Rotary Leadership Institute
The District Rotary Leadership Institute is offering leadership courses for anyone who is interested. The next courses are scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. This is a great way to learn about the many functions of Rotary, so newer members are strongly encouraged to attend. For registration information, please visit http://www.rlinea.org/Registration.htm
