Weekly Club Newsletter 2014 04 09

 

We got into the swing of things with a putting contest that was won by Pat Scheidel.  We then heard from Golf Committee members, Dave Johnson, Heather Lemon and Nancy Freeze about the event itself.  This year’s tournament will be held at the Links at Lang Farm on Wednesday, June 11^th.  This is our Club’s biggest fundraiser, so it is important that all Rotarians participate and help out with this event.  We ask that each Rotarian who is not playing in the tournament please volunteer for a slot at the event.  It is also important that members solicit sponsors for our tournament.  Each Rotarian is responsible for bringing in at least one cart sponsor ($50.00 sponsorship).  A list of potential sponsors has been circulated, however, members are strongly encouraged to add to this list by soliciting new sponsors. Sponsorship brochures are available at the meetings or electronically if you need them.  Not only is this a huge fundraiser, but it also gives members a chance to really talk up the Club and educate people about what we do when soliciting potential sponsors. Let’s all work towards once again making this event a huge success! 

 

 

            The theme for April is “Magazine Month”.  During this month, Rotary International is celebrating its monthly publication, “The Rotarian”.  First published as “The National Rotarian” in 1911, this magazine is now published in 20 different languages and distributed to Rotarians in 130 different countries. It has continuously served as one of the many ways in which Rotarians are able to connect with one another and learn about the great works of Rotary in other parts of the world.  If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment to look through this month’s issue of The Rotarian to see what it has to offer!

 

 

            Just as a reminder, the District 7850 Conference is being held in Burlington this year from April 25^th through April 27^th.  If you are interested in attending any of the scheduled meals at this event, please register at:  

 

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 –  Our speaker will be Bob Uerz who will be talking to us about therapy dogs.
