Meeting Recap

 

      Greetings Rotarians! Today’s speaker was Bob Uerz from Therapy Dogs of Vermont.  This non-profit organization was founded in 1992 for the purpose of improving the emotional health of Vermonters through contact with dogs.  Currently the organization has over 300 volunteers who bring their dogs to healthcare facilities and nursing homes throughout the region to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds. Potential handlers and their dogs go through specialized training and they must pass a test in order to serve as volunteers for this organization.  In addition to visiting hospitals and nursing homes, Therapy Dogs of Vermont recently extended their services to Veteran’s Administration facilities throughout the area.  For more information about this organization, please visit its website at www.therapydogs.org

 
2014 Essex Rotary Golf Tournament
 
Don’t let this brief return of winter fool you!  We are still moving full steam ahead towards the Golf Tournament on June 11th!  So far, the sponsors are trickling in, but we need as many as many hole and cart sponsors as we can get! Sponsorship brochures are available at the meetings or electronically if you need them (I have attached a copy to this newsletter). Let’s all work towards once again making this event a huge success! 
 
Essex Rotary Changeover Dinner
 
            Please mark your calendars for the evening of Wednesday, June 25th.  Our Club will be holding its annual Changeover Dinner at The Essex on that date.  This dinner will be held in lieu of our regularly scheduled meeting that day.  Stay tuned for more details about what should be a fun event.
 
District 7850 District Conference

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 – Our speaker will be Kevin Goddard, Vice President of External Affairs at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont.
