Greetings fellow Rotarians! Today’s speakers were Polly McEwing and Chad Farrell.  Polly began the talk by giving us a brief history of her family’s farm (Whitcomb Farm).  She then introduced Chad Farrell of Encore Redevelopment, the principal developer of the solar project at Whitcomb Farm.  Chad explained the details of this project as well as the particulars of two other solar projects that his outfit is developing in Essex. The Whitcomb Farm project is a 3.6 Megawatt solar PV array which makes it the largest solar PV project constructed in the State of Vermont to date.  This project will provide lease revenue to Whitcomb Farm in perpetuity which will help it continue operation as a working farm.  For more information about Encore Redevelopment and its projects, please visit its website at http://encoreredevelopment.com/

 

 

            The next big event on the horizon is the annual Senior Luncheon that we put on with the Knights of Columbus.  This year’s luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2^nd at the Champlain Valley Expo from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.  This event will be held in lieu of our regularly scheduled meeting that day.  For our newer Rotarians, this is a luncheon we put on each year for local senior citizens.  We need as many Rotarians as possible to arrive between 11:15 and 11:30 that day to assist in putting together the goodie bags for the patrons and to serve lunch to the estimated 220 seniors in attendance.  We also need donations of small items for the 220 goodie  bags. Items such as promotional pens and trinkets would be great.  For more information about this event, please contact Diana Ferguson.

 

 

            Our Club has once again committed to filling bell ringing slots on Friday December 11^th and Saturday, December 12^th in front of the Price Chopper and Essex Discount Beverage in Essex Center.  We are pleased to report that all of the shifts have been filled.  Great job, everyone!
