Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians!  We started today’s meeting by inducting Skip Oliver as the newest member of our Club.  Skip recently started his own business and is looking forward to serving with our Club.  Please take the opportunity to introduce yourselves to Skip and to make him feel welcome. Our speaker was author, motivational speaker and hypnotist, Dr. Steve Taubman.  Dr. Taubman talked to us about the power of the mind and how people can train themselves to be more focused and energetic through his three step process of relaxing, relieving and re-programing. He has helped many people overcome mental obstacles and fears through his techniques and hypnosis practices.  He finished the meeting with a short hypnosis demonstration on some of our own members. For more information about Steve and his practice, please visit his website at SteveTaubman.com
Service Above Self Dinner
Our annual Service Above Self Dinner will be held on the evening of February 17th at The Essex.  The cost of the dinner will be $30.00 per person. Please note that the Club is using money from its general fund to help keep the cost per meal at a level that is more affordable for members.  A sign-up sheet for this event will be circulated at future meetings for those who are interested in attending.  This dinner will be held in lieu of our regularly scheduled meeting that day.

Wanted: Rotary Pictures

Our Club’s 50th anniversary celebration will be held on Wednesday, April 13th at 5:30pm.  As part of the celebration, the 50th anniversary committee is looking for photographs from Rotary events over the past 50 years.  If you have photographs - hard copies from the early years or digital copies from later years - please get them to Jeff Cabanaw as he is putting together a video for us that will be shown at the 50th anniversary dinner.  If you would like the hard copies returned to you, please indicate that on the envelope so that Jeff can get them back to the right person.

Essex Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic

Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, March 19th for the Essex Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic!  For our newer members, our Club puts on the annual high school all-star hockey games that feature the best men and women senior players in the state.  This is also typically our Club’s second largest fundraiser, so we will need all hands on deck in order to pull this off.  Sign-up sheets for volunteer slots will be circulated in the very near future, so stay tuned.  Please contact committee chair, Jeff Cabanaw for more details about this event.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  February 10, 2016 – Our speaker will be District 7850 Governor, Louisa Tripp.
