Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians!  We had a very busy meeting today!  We first heard from two students from the Essex High School Drama Club.  As many of you may know, our Club helped sponsor this group’s trip to the New England regional one-act competition.  This was the first time a group from Essex High School had made it to the regional competition, so this was a tremendous honor.  The two students told us about their experiences at the competition and how meaningful it was for them to attend.  Following that presentation, we were introduced to Wendell Noble from the Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts organization.  Each year, this group presents the Golden Wrench Award to high school students who demonstrate a positive attitude and accomplishments in math and science.  This year, our Club was proud to help sponsor this award and we presented a check for $500.00 to Wendell for that purpose.  Our speaker was Jessica Cover, the Marketing and Communications Director for Run Vermont.  While most people recognize this organization as the entity behind the Vermont City Marathon that is held each year, this group also organizes a number of other running events and programs throughout the area.  Jessica described these programs as well as the efforts that go into making the marathon a success each year.  She indicated that they rely heavily upon the 1,700 people who volunteer to put the marathon on each year as well as their sponsors.  This year’s marathon will be held on Sunday, May 28th.  For more information about Run Vermont and the marathon itself, please visit their website at:   https://www.runvermont.org/
