Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians! We started today’s meeting with a classification talk from one of our newer members, Rusty Brink.  Rusty came to this area as a student at the University of Vermont.  After finishing college, he and his family remained in the area for 36 years where he made a career as a fundraiser for a variety of organizations.  Rusty moved away from the area for several years, before recently moving back to be closer to his children and grandchildren.  Thank you, Rusty for letting us get the chance to know you a bit better. The remainder of the meeting was dedicated to our monthly charitable committee meetings.

Feed My Starving Children project

This past Saturday, 25 Rotarians, friends and family members took part in the Feed My Starving Children service project. Together, they packed enough food to feed 92 children for an entire year!  Thank you to everyone who volunteered at this event and thank you to Amy Jackman for coordinating this!

Holiday Senior Luncehon

Although the weather might make you feel like it is still August, the Holiday Senior Luncheon is only a month and a half away!  On December 6th, our Club will join forces with the Knights of Columbus to put on a holiday lunch at the Champlain Valley Exposition for over 200 senior citizens in the area.  Right now, we are looking for businesses and individuals to donate small items to be used in the goodie bags that we distribute to the seniors at this event. Examples of items include, but are not limited to, pens, note pads, refrigerator magnets, candy, etc . . . Please contact Lois Parmelee at
Lparmelee01@gmail.com for more information about this event.

Service Above Self Nominations

There is still time to nominate individuals for the annual Service Above Self award. Each year, our Club recognizes an individual in our community who best exemplifies the spirit of our motto of service above self.  Please submit your nominations along with a detailed description of why you feel your nominee is deserving to Dave Johnson at mdkiln@gmail.com by a date no later than October 31st!

Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf

The next opportunity to volunteer at the food shelf will be on November 16th. Please let Sharon Dettenrieder know if you are able to volunteer for this shift.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  November 1, 2017 –  Our speaker will be Phelan Fretz, Executive Director of ECHO.
