Greetings fellow Rotarians! Today we held our monthly committee meetings and were given a brief overview of the funds available to each committee and the work they have all done to date. 

 

 

On December 6^th, our Club will join forces with the Knights of Columbus to put on a holiday lunch at the Champlain Valley Exposition for over 200 senior citizens in the area.  We appear to be in pretty good shape as far as donations are concerned, but we need the help of as many Rotarians as possible to help put the goodie bags together, to serve the lunch and to assist with the post meal clean-up.             Our Club has volunteered to cover Salvation Army bell-ringing shifts in front of the Essex Discount Beverage and the Price Chopper in Essex Center on December 8^th and 9^th.  It appears that we still have two spots left to be filled, so if you haven’t done so already, please sign up for a two-hour shift when you get a chance.

 

 

            Preparations are about to commence for the Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic.  Each March, our Club organizes and runs this event that recognizes the top senior men and women high school hockey players in Vermont. The event itself is made up of both a men’s and women’s game that each feature the selected all-star players.  This is not only a great opportunity for these young men and women to play one last high school game, but it is our Club’s second largest fundraiser. Presently, the Hockey Committee is looking for more members to help put this event together.  If you would like to serve on this committee, please contact Committee Chair, Jeff Cabanaw at Tarrisonus@comcast.net

 

 

            The next opportunities to volunteer at the food shelf will be on Monday, December 11^th from 5:30 to 7:30 and Thursday December 20^th from 3:00 to 6:00. Please let Sharon Dettenrieder know if you are able to volunteer for either of these shifts.

 

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  December 6, 2017 –  We will be putting on the annual Senior Luncheon at the Champlain Valley Exposition.  Please arrive by 11:30am to assist with the packaging of goodie bags.  This event will be taking place in lieu of our regularly scheduled meeting.
