Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians!  Today’s speaker was Dan O’Neil, Executive Director of the Ethan Allen Homestead. Mr. O’Neil has been living in Vermont with his family since 2009. In addition to his duties at the Ethan Allen Homestead, Dan is also an adjunct professor at St. Michael’s College and the Community College of Vermont.  Mr. O’Neil discussed the manner in which the Ethan Allen Homestead has been revamped.  He also shared his vision of the facility as a world-class museum and teaching tool to be utilized by Vermonters from across the state.  For more information about this landmark, please visit http://www.ethanallenhomestead.org/

Golf Tournament

The final drive for golf sponsors is in full gear! So far, we are moving in the right direction but we still need the help of all of the members to secure as many sponsors as possible.   If you haven’t contacted the sponsor assigned to you yet, please do so as soon as possible.  As we have mentioned before, this is our biggest fundraiser, so every sponsorship dollar helps!

Rotary Theme for May

The Rotary theme for the Month of May is “Promote International Convention Month”.  Each year, Rotary International holds a convention in a different location.  It is a great opportunity for Rotarians from across the globe to gather in fellowship and to exchange ideas about Rotary.  These events are also noteworthy for their featured speakers and entertainers.  The 2013 convention is taking place in Lisbon, Portugal and it will be held from June 23rd through June 26th.   While it may be late to make plans to fly over to Portugal for this year’s event,  Rotarians are strongly encouraged to experience a future convention as it is a great way to appreciate Rotary’s global reach.

Changeover Dinner

This year’s changeover dinner will coincide with our Club’s Family Day.  This event will be held at Chapin Orchards on Saturday, June 29th starting at 4:00pm.  You are encouraged to bring your family members to not only enjoy an evening at the orchard, but to witness the changeover and participate in the annual auction.  More details about this event will follow in upcoming weeks.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  May 8, 2013 – Next week we will be folding pamphlets for the Give Way to Freedom Foundation as a service project.
