Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians!  We started the meeting with a check presentation to Essex High School student, Steve Maloney.  Steve is an Eagle Scout candidate and he is currently working on project to build a 5K race course behind the Tree Farm.  The course will be for the use Essex High School and the community in general.  Thanks to a generous donation of $400.00 from our Club’s Youth Committee, Steve will be able to purchase wood chips and ground felt for his project.  Following the presentation, members broke out into charitable committee meetings. Based on feedback from committee chairs, there are many charitable projects currently in the works and we should be hearing reports from each committee before too long.

Essex Rotary Service Project

We once again have the opportunity to take part in this year’s “Feed My Starving Children” project. This event will take place on Friday, October 18th from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at the Albert D. Lawton School in Essex Junction.  Our Club has committed to providing 30 members but so far, we only have 19 people signed up. Please keep in mind that family members and friends are more than welcome to join us, however, President Marie will need to know the names of the volunteers so that she may submit them to the sponsoring organization.  A sign-up sheet is being circulated at meetings, so please consider joining fellow Rotarians for a highly rewarding service project.

South African Fellowship Event in Waterbury

The Waterbury and Stowe Rotary Clubs are hosting a day of fellowship with visiting Rotarians from South Africa on October 3rd at the Country Club of Vermont in Waterbury.  There will be a golf scramble starting at 1:00pm followed by cocktails and dinner at 5:30pm. The cost for both events is $135.00, however, Rotarians also have the option of doing either the dinner or the golf scramble if they like.  Please contact Patty Meade at Patty.Meade@gmcr.com for more information about this event.
