Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians! We started off today’s meeting by inducting two new members.  Robin Lane and Jean Ashe became the newest additions to our Club.  Please take a few moments to introduce yourselves to Robin and Jean.  We were then treated to a classification talk by Carolyn Ambrosait.  Carolyn was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent 26 years working as a school nurse.  She is now enjoying retirement by visiting her family and traveling all over the world.  She and her family will soon be exploring their ancestral roots in Norway.  Thank you to Carolyn for letting us get to know you a bit better!  Our speaker today was Erin Talmage.  Erin is a biologist at the Birds of Vermont Museum in Huntington, Vermont.  The museum was founded by Bob Spear in 1987 with the goal of educating people about birds and providing visitors with an appreciation for the environment. This museum is often described as Vermont’s “best kept secret” and features more than 450 carvings of birds.  There are also 100 acres of adjacent nature trails where visitors can explore and see birds in their natural habitats.  For more information about this museum, please visit http://www.birdsofvermont.org/

Essex Rotary Key Bank All-Star Hockey Classic

The Hockey Classic will be held on Saturday, March 15th.  This year we are holding a joint banquet at the Doubletree Hotel in South Burlington for both the men and the women. The women’s game will start at 1:00pm and the men’s game will commence at 3:30pm. By now you all should have received Betty Poulin’s e-mail soliciting volunteers for this event.  Thank you to those of you who have already volunteered.  The sign-up sheet is on the website and it will be passed around at the meetings. We ask that you please help out with this event if you can.  This is one of the biggest service projects we take on, and with everyone chipping in to help for a few hours, we can continue making this event a success.

District 7850 Conference

Be sure to mark your calendars for the District 7850 Conference! This year’s conference will be held at the Hilton in Burlington from April 25th through April 27th.  All Rotarians are encouraged to attend what should be an informative and highly interactive event.   More details will follow concerning the speakers and programs that will be featured at this event.
