Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians!  Our speaker today was Clary Franko from SunCommon, which is a company that installs residential and commercial solar systems.  Clary explained that Vermonters annually spend $2.6 billion on energy.   SunCommon’s goal is to not only reduce that high number, but to provide environmentally friendly energy technology to Vermonters at an affordable cost.  SunCommon’s representatives personally visit the homes or places of business of interested purchasers to determine if solar energy can work for them.  Their engineers then design a system that is compatible with that particular home or office.  They will work to install the technology and also manage the permitting details and the paperwork for tax incentives that are passed to the purchaser.  Clary stated that their customers are able to save thousands of dollars each year by using their technology.   For more information about SunCommon, please visit its website at www.SunCommon.com

Thank you to Heather Lemon!

Heather Lemon announced today that she is stepping down as our Club’s Secretary and that she will also be resigning as a member. The position of Club Secretary is one of the most important and underappreciated jobs in any Club.  It is one that requires attention to detail and a significant amount of time spent outside of regular meeting hours. Fortunately for our Club, we have had the right person handling that job for the past few years. Heather has truly embodied the motto of “service above self” by selflessly dedicating countless hours to the Club not only as our Secretary, but as a member of the Golf Committee and as a member who was always willing to go the extra mile behind the scenes. Thank you very much Heather for your years of dedication and service to our Club!

Rotary Shelter Boxes

Our International Committee is pleased to announce that it has arranged for our Club to purchase a Rotary Shelter Box to be used for humanitarian purposes.  Shelter Boxes are transportable structures that are filled with vital supplies.  They are used to support communities that are overwhelmed by humanitarian and disaster crises.  The box our Club purchased will eventually be deployed to a community in need.  Please visit www.shelterbox.org for more information about this effort.  This is yet another example of the great causes we are able to support through our fundraising efforts!

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, July 23, 2014 – Our speaker will be State Trooper, Michelle LeBlanc of the K-9 unit.  She will be bringing in her K-9, Casko (as such, Rotarians are strongly advised to not bring their contraband to that week’s meeting).
