Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians! Today’s speaker was Rotary Exchange Student, Elena Newburgh.  Elena recently hosted a Spanish exchange student named Maria this summer. During their time together in Vermont, Elena and Maria enjoyed Elena’s camp on Lake Elmore and embarked on many outdoor adventures in and around the area.  Elena then traveled to Spain to spend several weeks with Maria and her family in the Catalonia region of Spain. While in Spain, Elena not only explored the Catalonia region, but she was also able to spend some time in Andorra and Italy.   Elena also learned a great deal about the people of Catalonia and the efforts of many in that region to form a sovereign nation of their own.

Celebrate My Drive

Essex High School is participating in Celebrate My Drive.  This program is sponsored by State Farm Insurance and it is designed to celebrate new drivers who make smart driving choices. Community members are asked to make safe driving commitments on behalf of participating schools. More than 3,200 schools are registered and the 100 schools that receive the most commitments will win grants of either $25,000 or $100,000.  Two grand prize winners will receive $100,000 plus a free concert at their schools by The Band Perry!  As community members, we can help Essex High School achieve these goals by making safe driving commitments on its behalf.  By going to www.celebratemydrive.com, you can make a commitment every day from October 15th through October 24th.  For more information about this program, please contact Essex Rotarian, Kaitlyn Raymond at kaitlyn.raymond.k2n5@statefarm.com
