Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians! We kicked things off by inducting Ron Line as the newest member of our Club.  Ron is a long time member of our community and he is looking forward to all that Rotary has to offer.  Please take the time to introduce yourselves to Ron and make him feel welcome. We followed Ron’s induction with a classification talk from Emily Rowe.  Emily was first introduced to the area as a student at the University of Vermont.  She very quickly transitioned to a career at IBM where she worked until her recent retirement.  Emily has already volunteered for a number of our service projects and she is anxious to become even more involved with our Club.  Thank you to Emily for taking the time to tell us a little about yourself.  Our speaker today was Chris Howell, the founder of Vermont Farm Tours.  Chris works with a number of local farms to provide culinary tours, special events and workshops with the goal of educating people about the food they eat and where it comes from.  Chris recently started a Cocktail Walk which allows people to enjoy Vermont made spirits and cordials and learn how they are made.  For more information about Vermont Farm Tours and the Cocktail Walks, please visit www.vermontfarmtours.org for more information.

Upcoming Rotary Service Projects

It is time to start marking your calendars for some of our annual service projects!  We will join the Knight of Columbus in putting on the annual Senior Holiday Luncheon at the Champlain Valley Exposition on December 3rd.  We ask that you please arrive at the Expo by 11:15am to assist in putting together goodie bags for the seniors and to help serve food.  We will also need items to be placed in goodie bags.  Any trinkets, books or small promotional items are welcome!  Please contact Diana Ferguson at Diana@essexchips.org for more information about this event.  We will also assist the Salvation Army as bell-ringers on Friday, December 12th and Saturday, December 13th in front of Essex Discount Beverage and the Essex Price Chopper.  A sign-up sheet for this event will be circulated shortly.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, November 12, 2014 – Dave Johnson will be discussing the Rotary Foundation.  We will also be treated to a critically-acclaimed play performed by some of the world’s most renowned thespians.
