Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians!  We kicked off today’s meeting by honoring the latest recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship.  Thanks to her generous donation of $1,000.00 to the Rotary Foundation, Kristin Winter attained the status of Paul Harris Fellow.  The selfless financial contributions of people like Kristin help provide the resources Rotary International needs to finance its many philanthropic endeavors.  Thank you to Kristin for your support!  Our speaker today was Pam Hemingway, the Coordinator of the Career Development program at Essex High School. The purpose of this program is to assist student in finding mentored internships and develop skills that will help them make informed career choices in the future.  For the second consecutive year, Pam has offered an internship course to Essex High School students.  The course is designed to prepare students for internship opportunities in the business community.  The course educates students about work ethics, communication skills, résumé and cover letter writing, and interviewing skills.  Pam also works with the students as a career curriculum coach.  One of her duties as a “coach” is to evaluate the social media habits of her students and inform them whether the content on their forums will help or hinder their abilities to secure employment.  Please visit http://www.ccsuvt.org/ehs/career-education/community-service-internship-course/ for more information about this program.
