Meeting Recap
Greetings fellow Rotarians! We started today’s meeting with Round 2 of the Rotary Speech Contest. The winner of the last round, Rylee Wrenner took on Mariah Savard who was the winner of the last round of the Colchester-Milton leg of the contest. Both young ladies did an excellent job, but it was Mariah Savard who was declared the winner. She will go on to compete in the next round at the District level. Congratulations to both on a job well done! Our speaker today was Lt. General Michael Dubie from Revision Military. He explained that Revision was a Vermont employer that is manufacturing military standard eyewear and head equipment. Their eyewear is designed and tested to withstand shrapnel, so their products have already saved the eyes of many military personnel. In addition to protecting those in the armed forces, the company hopes and expects its products to be used more frequently by civilians in everyday life. For more information on their products, please visit their website at: https://www.revisionmilitary.com/products/
Essex Rotary Key Bank All-Star Hockey Classic
There are still plenty of open volunteer shifts to be filled at this year’s Hockey Classic! As always, the success of this event depends largely upon the many Rotarians who generously volunteer their time to work at each of the games. A sign-up sheet is currently being distributed at meetings and you can also sign up for shifts on our web page at: http://rotaryclubofessex.org/event/2016-rotary-vermont-all-star-hockey/ We are also looking for members to donate baked goods for the event’s concession stand. You can indicate what you will be bringing by signing up at: http://rotaryclubofessex.org/event/hockey-concessions/
Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf
We will once again be looking for volunteers to work at the Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf on Thursday, March 24th. Please contact Sharon Dettenrieder if you would like to volunteer for that or any future shifts.
Wanted: Rotary Pictures
Our Club’s 50th anniversary celebration will be held on Wednesday, April 13th at 5:30pm. As part of the celebration, the 50th anniversary committee is looking for photographs from Rotary events over the past 50 years. If you have photographs - hard copies from the early years or digital copies from later years - please get them to Jeff Cabanaw as he is putting together a video for us that will be shown at the 50th anniversary dinner. If you would like the hard copies returned to you, please indicate that on the envelope so that Jeff can get them back to the right person.
Upcoming Meeting Schedule: March 9, 2016 – Our speaker will be Nicole DiDomenico, Rotaract Advisor at Norwich University.
