Greetings fellow Rotarians! We deviated from our usual agenda this week as President Trish Porter hosted this week’s meeting in the form of a pot-luck dinner at her home.  The weather was beautiful as several Rotarians and their family members enjoyed a great meal and the chance for some fellowship with their fellow members. Thank you to all you brought dishes and participated in this event and thank you to Trish Porter for graciously hosting this dinner!

 

 

            We are now in the final stretch of preparations for the Essex Rotary Golf Tournament.  Our hope is that this beautiful stretch of weather will continue through June 13^th and that we will have warm temperatures and bright blue skies for our golf event. We are still hoping to surpass last year’s net profit of over $26,000.00, but we your help in getting us there. If you haven’t done so already, please contact your assigned sponsors and encourage them to get their pledges and checks in soon!  Please remember that we are rapidly approaching the deadline for getting sponsors as the printer we use will not be able to accommodate last minute requests for hole and cart signs.  With that in mind, please get information about your sponsors to Dave Johnson and Lois Parmelee immediately!

 

 

            Just as a reminder, we are rapidly approaching the end of the fiscal Rotary year. All charitable committee chairs are therefore asked to submit their final requests for donation checks to be cut as soon as possible. Please do not wait until the end of June to make these requests. Any requests not made in a timely fashion may have to be carried over into the next fiscal year.

 

 

            The next opportunities to volunteer will be on Monday, June 11^th from 5:30 to 7:30; and Thursday, June 21^st from 3:30 to 6:30. Please let Sharon Dettenrieder know if you are able to fill any of these shifts.

 

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, June 6, 2018 – Our speaker will be Dana Hanley, Community Development Director for the Town of Essex.  Dana will be speaking to us about the planning process for the development of Essex Town Center (which includes the proposed re-development of the area around the Essex Shoppes and Cinemas).
