Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians! Today we held our first committee meetings of the new Rotary year.  Committees gathered to chart out their plans for the year and to discuss possible endeavors to support.  If you are a newer member and have yet to join a committee, please take the time to think about what types of causes interest you and which committee might be a good fit for you.

Essex Rotary Corn Booth

Thank you to all of the Rotarians who have signed up for shifts at the Corn Booth.  Thus far, we have filled a large number of slots, however, we still have a significant number of evening slots that remain empty.  We need to have the booth staffed for the entire Fair which means this is an all-hands on deck event. The morning shifts (10:00 to 2:00) each have 3 slots, the afternoon shifts (2:00 to 6:00) and the evening shifts (6:00 to 10:00) each have four slots.  Our hope is that each Rotarian will be responsible for providing coverage for at least two slots.  Members are encouraged to fill slots with friends and family members as well.  If you haven’t done so already, please sign up for shifts on our Club’s website. At some point, in the near future, Ray Allaire should have passes for parking and entrance into the Fair for our volunteers. Once they are available, you may pick them up from Ray at future meetings or at Sunray Fire and Security located on 1 Market Place, Suite #29 in Essex.  Finally, for those who are interested, Corn Dollars are available for purchase. For $20.00 you can get ten Corn Dollars. One Corn Dollar is good for one ear of corn at the Corn Booth. Corn Dollars can be given to friends, family members or anyone else who might enjoy an ear of corn at the Fair. For more information about the Corn Booth, please contact either Mike Dimitroff or Ray Allaire.

Past Presidents Meeting

President Andy Love has scheduled an informal state-of-the-Club meeting on Thursday, August 2nd.  The meeting will be held in the Board Room at The Essex at 7:00pm and is open to all past presidents of our Club.  Any and all of our former fearless leaders are encouraged to join in to discuss their thoughts on the Club and share their experiences as presidents.

Alzheimer’s Walk

Please join Bill, Lois Parmelee and the rest of Team Life is Good for the Champlain Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s event.  This fund-raiser will be held at the Shelburne Museum on September 16th.  Bill and Lois are looking for fellow Rotarians who can either round out their team or come to cheer them on.  For more information about how you can support this cause please visit www.alz.org or contact Bill Parmelee at wparmelee@gmail.com
