Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians! Our speaker today was Hillary Burrows, CEO of Autumn Harp, a high-end cosmetics company that is located right here in Essex.  The company was founded in 1978 and has gone through numerous expansions over the past several years.  Hillary is a 2002 graduate of Essex High School and has been with Autumn Harp for 12 years.  She explained that the pros of working for a company in a more rural setting is that the employees get to enjoy a real sense of community that they otherwise might not get working in a larger city.  She stated that the cons of operating a company like this are the high taxes and the difficulty in attracting qualified people to work in Vermont due in part to the high cost of living.   Hillary also explained that the company takes pride in the number of new Americans they have working for their company.  For more information about Autumn Harp, please visit
