Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians!  Today’s meeting was cancelled to recognize the hard work everyone is putting into the Essex Rotary Corn Booth this week.   Thus far, the weather has been phenomenal and the crowds have been robust, so we are hopeful those factors will translate into lots of corn being sold!  Thank you to all of the Rotarians and their friends, families and co-workers who have graciously donated their time to work shifts at the booth.  We should particularly thank Kristin Winer and Betty Poulin for assisting with the volunteer effort and the Corn Dollar drive and, Mike Plageman for serving as our primary corn delivery guy. Last, but not least, a special thank you goes out to Corn Booth Committee Co-Chairs, Ray Allaire and Holly Lemieux for their tireless, behind-the-scenes efforts in putting this event together this year.  In light of some difficult circumstances caused by the corn crop, they did an amazing job in making sure we were able to stay open for business!  The Fair isn’t done yet though, so keep husking, keep those ears steamed and buttered and keep selling!

Need some good book suggestions?  Check out Rotary’s own magazine!

If you are looking for some books to read but don’t know where to start, where do you go?   Well, the Brownell Library is a great resource, but you can also look no further than the latest edition of Rotary International’s monthly periodical, “Rotarian” for some suggestions.  Each month, quality books are reviewed for the benefit of Rotarians.   The subject matters of the selected books vary, so there are undoubtedly some good suggestions for everyone!

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, September 4th  – Alex McLean will be on hand to speak about Jay Peak and all of the activity in the Northeast Kingdom.
