Meeting Recap
Greetings fellow Rotarians! Today we had the honor of inducting Judy DeNova into our Club. Judy recently took over as the Superintendent of the Chittenden Central Supervisory Union, a position that had been held by former Essex Rotarian, Mike DeWeese until his retirement. Please take the time to introduce yourselves to Judy and to make her feel welcome at our Club. Today’s speaker was Don George, CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont. Don informed us that Blue Cross Blue Shield is located in Berlin, Vermont and is currently the fifth largest employer in the State of Vermont. He focused much of his talk on the manner in which recent changes to the state and federal healthcare systems will affect his company and the impact they will have on the public. Essex Rotary Corn Booth
Committee Co-Chair, Ray Allaire reported that we will most definitely have to purchase corn from a different source this year. Ray has a few promising leads and hopes to have plans finalized by the next meeting. It is important to note, however, that the Corn Booth will go on as planned and that we need to fill all of the shifts as soon as possible. The more helping hands the better, so please encourage your family members and friends to pitch in as well. The current sign up sheet has been posted on the website. If you have already signed up, please check the sheet to make sure it is correct. If you have not signed up, please contact Kristin Winer to let her know which shifts you want to take so she can get the online version updated. A hard copy of the sign up sheet will also be circulated at future meetings. Hockey Committee
Planning for the Essex Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic has already commenced. There is plenty of room on our committee for more members, so please contact me at JFR@essexvtlaw.com if you are interested in joining or if you simply want to weigh in on some of the changes to the event that are being discussed. We are holding our first formal meeting of the year on Thursday, August 8th at 4:00pm at On Tap located in the five corners.
