Housing Targets & Regional Planning - Act 181 Updates by CCRPC

Act 181, passed into law June 2024, overhauls Vermont’s planning framework for coordinating state, regional, and municipal land use.

Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission’s (CCRPC’s) new regional plan and Future Land Use Map will guide development by designating areas for growth, conservation, and other purposes based on environmental, infrastructure, and community factors. Additionally, CCRPC will disaggregate statewide and regional targets for housing development to the municipal level to quantify what it would take to normalize the market and meet specific housing needs.
