Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians! We did not have our regularly scheduled meeting this week due to the fact Rotarians are busily selling corn at the Champlain Valley Fair!  The weather has been great and many ears of corn have already been sold to hungry fair-goers!  In addition to raising money for our charitable endeavors, this project also gives our Club a great deal of exposure that we wouldn’t get anywhere else. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for announcements concerning the Corn Booth and shifts that might need to be filled as we cruise towards the end of the 2014 fair.  Keep selling that corn and have fun!

Rotary Theme for August

This month’s theme is memberships and extensions.  It goes without saying that Rotary can’t grow unless Clubs work hard to increase their membership totals each year.  What many people also forget is that we need to work hard to keep current members engaged and to make sure they continue their membership for years to come.  During the month of August, Rotary International asks that we think of different ways to bring in new members and interest people in Rotary.  Our Corn Booth presents a great opportunity to do just that.  Thousands of people stream by our booth each day and have the opportunity to learn about our Club and the great things it does.  When selling corn, definitely take the opportunity to talk up the Club and to educate patrons about what our Club does.  If even one of those people likes what he or she hears and decides to join us, it will make that extra effort worthwhile.  You should also consider inviting friends and family members to join. When people are asked why they haven’t joined Rotary, the most common response is that, “nobody ever asked me.”  It is amazing how many quality people we can get into our Club simply by asking them to join.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, September 3, 2014 – Our speaker will be Captain Zachariah Fike from the Purple Hearts Reunited organization.
