Health Care Delivery and Financing in Vermont

Complexity, mystery, and frustration abounds in the current financing and delivery of health care.  A case will be made for primary care to be separated from an insurance financing model.  He will also “debunk” some of the “accepted” dogma around health care in Vermont and nationally.  

Dr. Reiss is a principal at Evergreen Family Health in Williston.  His bio from the Evergreen website follows

Dr. Reiss was the original physician at the practice in 1990.  He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and received a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine.  Additional practice interests include: pediatrics, procedures and medical quality improvement.

Dr. Reiss holds a BS from Fordham University, completed his MD at the University of Rochester, and then a Family Medicine residency at the University of Vermont.  He is the board chair of Healthfirst, a statewide independent practice association; and the medical director of the Accountable Care Coalition of the Green Mountains. 

He is a former board member of VITL, and former president of the Vermont Academy of Family Medicine. Dr. Reiss is also the board chair for the Julian Reiss Foundation, sponsoring summer camps for New York City youth in Lake Placid, New York for over 50 years. Dr. Reiss has lived in Williston since 2006, has five children, and enjoys hiking, traveling, tennis and skiing.
