Meeting Recap
Greetings fellow Rotarians! Today we welcomed District 7850 Governor, Louisa Tripp to our Club! DG Tripp told us a bit about her personal and professional background and told us about her experiences as a Rotarian. She explained that she really came to understand what it meant to be a Rotarian during a humanitarian visit that provided eye tests and eye care for workers from Mexico. Since then, Louisa has embraced the gift of service that Rotarians have to offer on a global level. Appropriately, Louisa has stepped up to the role of District Governor in a year in which the Rotary theme is, “Be a Gift to the World”. After discussing several upcoming district events and the new Rotary theme, Louisa provided commemorative “Be a Gift to the World” pins to all in attendance. Thank you very much to District Governor Tripp for taking the time to meet with our Club!
Essex Rotary Corn Booth – Final number!
Ray Allaire and Kristin Winer were pleased to announce that our net proceeds from this year’s Corn Booth sales were $4,528.00! Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, and a larger than usual number of Rotarians purchasing Corn Dollars, the net proceeds from this event were higher than last year’s totals. Thank you again to Ray Allaire and Holly Lemieux for spearheading this effort and making it such a success!
Essex Rotary Service Above Self Award
Our Club is currently accepting nominations for the annual “Service Above Self Award” that will be presented at our upcoming Service Above Self Dinner in February. Rotarians are encouraged to nominate individuals who best exemplify our motto of “service above self” in their daily lives as candidates for this award. The selected individual will also be recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow with a $1,000.00 donation to the Rotary Foundation being made by our Club in his or her name. Please submit your nominations to Dave Johnson at mdjkiln@juno.com before November 4, 2015.
Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf and Apple Picking
Thank you to all of the Rotarians who picked apples at Chapin Orchards that were donated to the Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf and thank you to those who volunteered to work at the Food Shelf this month. The next opportunity to volunteer at the Food Shelf will be on Thursday, November 19th. Please let Sharon Dettenrieder know if you are interested in helping out on that date.
