Meeting Recap
Greetings fellow Rotarians! Due to the wintery weather, our speaker and the majority of our members were unable to make it to this week’s meeting.  We are hoping to re-schedule a time for Fred Kenney to come in and talk to our Club about the Feed My Starving Children service project at a future meeting.
Essex Rotary Hockey Classic
We are just a few short weeks away from the annual Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic. We are pleased to announce that U.S. Olympic Gold Medal winner, Amanda Pelkey will be on hand to drop the ceremonial puck at both games!  We will also be auctioning off one of her Olympic hockey jerseys at this event! Thank you to all of the Rotarians who have volunteered to work at this event and to provide food for our concession stand.  There are still opportunities to provide concessions and to volunteer, so if you haven’t done so already, please sign up to help with this event.  Another way to help is to spread the word about the game!  The majority of the money we make from this event comes from the tickets we sell.  This year’s event will be held on Saturday, March 24th at the Essex Skating Facility.  Please contact Jeff Cabanaw if you have any questions about this event or would like to help out.
Fabric and Yarn Needed
Lois Parmelee is working on two projects for University of Vermont Medical Center.  She is hoping to provide hats and mittens to immigrant patients who do not have them and she is making fun pillow cases for children. Rotarians can help by donating brightly colored fabric for the pillow cases (42” x 25” for the body and 42” x 12” for the cuff) and yarn for the hats and mittens.  Please contact Lois if you can donate either or both of these materials.
Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf
Thank you to all who have volunteered to cover shifts at the Food Shelf in March.  It appears that we have enough volunteers for the March shifts, but Sharon Dettenrieder will be updating our Club on shifts that need to be filled in April.
Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, March 21, 2018 – Our speaker will be Shawn Trout from the First Republic Brewing Company.
Have a happy St. Patrick’s Day!
