Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians! Today we held our committee meetings. Each committee met to map out strategies for charitable giving for the remainder of the Rotary year. Our newer members are encouraged to spend some time getting to know what each committee does and to eventually pick a committee to join. Presently, we have an International Committee that focuses on supporting projects in other countries; a National Committee that identifies causes to support throughout the U.S.; a Local Committee whose purpose is to identify charitable endeavors to support right here in Vermont; a Literacy Committee that identifies and supports literacy-related projects at the local, national and international levels; a Youth Committee that supports and organizes causes and functions that benefit the youth of our region; a Public Relations Committee which handles our Club’s social media, advertising and press needs; and the Financial Committee, which is a group of Rotarians that oversees our Club’s finances and accounting. Our hope is that each member will find a committee that best aligns with his or her interests and passions.

Rotary Hockey Classic

Preparations are well under way for the annual Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic. Not only is this our Club’s second largest fundraiser, but it is an event that generates a great deal of publicity and exposure for our Club throughout the entire state. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st at the Essex Skating Facility with the women’s game starting at 3:30pm and the men’s game starting immediately after. As always, we will need several Rotarians to help at this event. Please contact Hockey Committee Chair, Jeff Cabanaw at Tarrisonus@comcast.net for details about volunteering at the Hockey Classic or opportunities for businesses to purchase ads in the game program.

Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf

We are looking for volunteers at the Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf on the following dates: Monday, March 9th (from 5:15 to 7:45 PM) and Thursday, March 26th (from 3:30 - 6:30 PM). Please contact Sharon Dettenrieder at sharon.dettenrieder@gmail.com if you are able to help fill any of these shifts.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule: Wednesday, March 11, 2020 – Our speaker will be Peter Welch, U.S. Representative for Vermont’s at-large congressional district.
